Over the years some of snowboarding's most demanding riders have helped tweak and craft the ultimate freeride board, with an emphasis on precision and power. The biggest advantage of this is the Custom X's high tech elements, such as carbon highlights replacing fiberglass elements, a competition-grade base, and Burtons revolutionary Squeezebox core design. This year Burton has tweaked the shape to make for the hardest charging board they could possibly make.

CAMBER
Camber - An advocate of powerful turns and poppy precision, camber speaks to the core values of board design. Offering a snappy suspension, the camber distributes weight evenly over the entire length of the board for smooth, continuous edge control from tip to tail.
FLEX
Twin Flex - The flex is perfectly symmetrical from tip to tail for a balanced ride that's equally versatile regular or switch.
SHAPE
Directional - The classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while still giving you plenty of float, flow, and control to rip any terrain or condition.
Pro-Tip - A tapered tip and tail thickness reduces swing weight for easier mobility.
CORE
DragonFly 600G Core - The Dragonfly core uses end-grain woods in the impact zones of the board, which lets them swap out heavier woods for lighter ones, without losing strength.
Multizone EGD - A Burton exclusive. Manipulating the angles and direction of wood grain placement within the core results in ultimate edge-hold, response, and durability. In four separate zones, the wood grain is perpendicular to the core adjacent to The Channel - the area from which a rider's power emanates - for ultimate strength and edge control.
Squeezebox - Burton's most versatile Squeezebox profile improves pop and performance through the balance of thicker, more powerful core sections with thinner, more flexible sections. Rider energy is transferred outward from beneath the feet, energizing the tip and tail while making the board snappier, more stable, and easier to manipulate.
LAMINATES
45 ° Carbon Highlights High Voltage - Carbon Highlights optimizes each layer of the fiberglass matrix and adds a full tip-to-tail carbon layer to reduce weight and fine-tune torsional feel to achieve different ride characteristics. A 60 ° fiber angle creates a highly maneuverable and playful feel, while a 45 ° fiber angle provides a more aggressive ride.
BASE
Sintered WFO - Infusing a specially formulated wax deep into the pores of this extra-absorbent, high-density sintered material results in an ultra-durable base that stays wide open all season and in any condition.
EDGES
Frostbite Edges - Frostbite extends out slightly beneath your bindings for tremendous edge-hold on hard, icy conditions. Powerful when you need them, playful when you dont, Frostbite Edges are hungry for hard-pack while remaining smooth, flowing, and forgiving.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Super Sap ® Epoxy - A resin formulated with bio-based materials that reduce the carbon footprint by 50% over conventional all-petroleum-based epoxies. Less oil consumption means even less of a carbon footprint per board.
Infinite Ride - This Burton-exclusive technology allows maximized pop and strength by overbuilding the board, then putting it in a machine that breaks in the board for you. ORDER FULFILMENT
Shipping is free NZ-wide on orders over $75*
Order under $75 are $6.99 to ship within New Zealand which is Rural also.
We do charge a $5 rural delivery charge on orders over $75 as this service is considerably more expensive to send.
*$5 shipping for rural addresses - please select "I need rural delivery" at check out as to not delay your order being shipped.
When will I receive my Order? - Depending on what it is and how large your order is plays a big part on how long it will take.
Once we receive your order we will get it out to you as soon as possible. Some times the stock can be in our Queenstown store and needs to be brought over to Wanaka to ship out. Small items, once sent are on overnight NZ Post so should be 1-2 business days.
Larger items such as bags, skis, snowboards are sent with PBT and run on a 4-5 business days south island and 7-9 Days North Island. Sometimes these can take up to three weeks to the North Island so please allow time to get to you. These are also subject to delays due to staff shortages / Christmas madness etc. along the chain.
Please keep in mind that if you have a rural address this can add an extra day or two also.
In general, we ship our orders with CourierPost, which we run on a 1-2 day service with pickup at 3pm each day.
Larger items, such as luggage, skis and snowboards, ship on an earlier service with PBT couriers. This is a fully traceable service. (Just to note: if it is a rural delivery, it can take a few more days depending on your local service.)
PICK UP IN STORE OPTION
Want to come collect your order from our store in Wanaka or Queenstown? Great! We will email you when your order is ready to collect. This can take from 2-4 business days depending on what it is.

PRODUCT AVAILABILITY
All the stock you see online is in New Zealand! Not from somewhere dodgy overseas.
Orders made during the weekend or on public holidays, when couriers do not operate, will be processed on the following business day or soon after.
Online is a crazy business and sometime inventory can get mucked up in the numbers, we may not have the ordered item on hand. If we cannot fulfil your entire order, within the stated time frames, we aim to contact you within 36hrs (Mon-Fri).
Should you not receive an order confirmation or update please check your spam/junk filter in your email as it may have been filtered incorrectly.
If an item ordered is unavailable for shipping, depending on your preference, we will:
- Substitute another product for your order
- Refund or credit your order.
- Ship your order at a later date
- Contact you when the requested item is back in stock

For Australian shipping, this is based on price so if you think it’s incorrect for what you are purchasing then contact us and we can get you a more accurate quote. This is a tracked service from NZ to Australia.
International shipping is non-refundable after the items have been sent.
*If your delivery is considered Rural / Urban by DHL or to Tasmania, where additional charges will apply, we will contact you to advise you of this charge. At no point will we change an additional amount without your authorization.

International shipping is via DHL Couriers or New Zealand Post.
