Brain Dead is a creative collective of artists and designers from around the world. With its disruptive, graphic-led approach, the brand takes its cues from post punk, underground comics, and the spirit of subculture as a whole. Brain Dead is not one person, nor is it one idea. The YES Shifter is a soft flexing twin board designed for park riding and jibbing. Unlike other boards, the Y3D profile begins outside the contact area, giving it a more direct edge feeling.

Camber is the base of snowboarding: you need to have an edge hold enough to drive in and out of turns, the Camber acts as a shock absorber on cars they push the wheels into the road to enhance grip. The camber does exactly that to the edge. Allowing you to drive your turns longer and release later.

Extruded 

This Carbon Layup configuration adds longitudinal stiffness to the nose and tail area’s while keeping the board torsionally softer between the bindings. This will help keeping the nose from folding in high speed run and makes your ollies pop as high as possible while keeping the board nice and responsive between the feet.

YES worked closely with their women’s team to get a strong park board and wanted to apply the park performance to the Y3D. So, YES made a version of the Rival for the women who want the performance of the triple base. The Menace will help you tear down the park and dominate the rails. This mid-soft women’s board is made for the backyard park rider with ambition.

Radial - When basics are good, a radial edge is the classic snowboard sidecut, where the radius draws a single circle. It's the most basic way to turn, it will allow you to carve but you are limited in the variations of turns you can make.

Sintered bases are harder and more expensive than extruded, and can be faster for those that ride aggressively.

CORE

Developed as a go-to, ride-it-all deck, the Basic has been refined over the years to the point that both pros and newbies reach for it on a regular basis. The UnderBite outline extracts more arc, more hold and a better carving experience out of every design we apply it to and the Basic was the genesis of it all. Guillaume Rousseaux designed the board.

CAMBER

Camrock 3-4-3 - The response of camber with the floatability of rocker. Camber between your feet acts as a spring, keeping your contact points on the ground as you go in and out of turns and allowing you to keep that edge hold longer. Once compressed the camber will accentuate the rocker and lift the nose out more, allowing it to float.

SHAPE 

UnderBite edges re-distribute a rider’s weight in such a way that it enhances turning ease and edge hold. Creating divots inward at the binding area reduces and disrupts the surface area of the edge that has contact with the snow while the board is turning. This increases the edge pressure by distributing your weight/energy in the areas where you need it - from the binding out, and through the center of the board where the carving arc is taking place. This segmentation of the sidecut into 3 key zones focuses your body weight onto areas that initiate, hold and release turns.

CORE

Full Poplar – Yes.'s baseline core for tip-to-tail woodcore snowboard construction. A core that strikes a predictable balance between durability and consistent flex and lightweight feel.

BASE

Exturded - Just like it says. This material is formed by extrusion. It’s softer than our other two bases, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. At the speeds many of us ride, this material is actually quicker (gets up to speed faster) than sintered when waxed correctly. You may have your own proof of this when you’re smoking by someone with a dried out “high-end” base. It also retains wax better because it’s more porous and is easy to fix with a P-Tex stick if you get scratches in it.
