Ultralight, UIAA-certified avalanche shovel that balances fast handling, packability, and real digging power for everyday touring.
The Mammut Alugator Light Shovel is Mammut’s lightest avalanche shovel, designed to weigh less than a small can of drink while still delivering serious strength and rigidity when you need to move snow in a hurry. Its hardened, anodised aluminium blade uses stabilisation ribs and a sharpened, tilt-resistant edge with integrated steps so it can cut into firm avalanche debris without twisting or folding. An oval telescopic shaft with automatic spring lock makes assembly fast and precise under pressure, and the symmetrical T-grip gives efficient power transfer in either hand when you are shovelling hard. A straight blade back is ideal for cutting clean snow profiles, and attachment holes in the blade let you build a snow anchor or emergency rescue sled when needed. With a compact, space-saving blade shape, 54 cm collapsed length, 75 cm extended length, and an impressively low overall weight, it fits easily into smaller daypacks and touring packs without weighing you down.
| Waterproofing | Hardened, anodised aluminium blade and corrosion-resistant shaft built for repeated use in wet snow and freeze–thaw conditions. |
| Warmth | Uninsulated rescue tool; ergonomic symmetrical T-grip and smooth shaft profile are optimised for efficient use with winter gloves so you can keep hands protected while digging. |
| Fit | Oval telescopic shaft with a compact collapsed length and a full 75 cm working length, sized to sit cleanly inside modern freeride and touring packs. |
