Fast-deploying 280 cm avalanche probe with a glove-friendly Speed Lock system for reliable, precise rescue work in the backcountry.
The Mammut 280 Probe Speed Lock is a robust, UIAA-certified avalanche probe designed for quick, intuitive deployment when seconds matter. Its Speed Lock tensioning system uses a high-tensile cord and a large, glove-friendly handle, so you can throw the probe, tension it in one pull, and get a positive click when it is fully locked. Lightweight yet stable aluminium segments keep flex to a minimum in dense avalanche debris, while extremely precise depth markings on both sides help you read burial depth quickly and guide your digging. A drop-shaped probe tip penetrates hard snow more efficiently, saving energy as you work, and the lower segment is highlighted for better visual feedback as you near a buried partner. The probe packs down to a compact length and comes with a tough cover that includes an integrated emergency plan for quick reference during stressful rescues.
| Waterproofing | Corrosion-resistant aluminium construction and durable cord designed for repeated use in wet snow and freeze–thaw conditions. |
| Warmth | Uninsulated safety tool; designed to be operated easily with gloves so you can keep your hands warm while probing. |
| Fit | Extended length of 280 cm with a compact 45 cm packed size, giving a strong reach while fitting neatly in most avalanche-tool sleeves. |
