Medium-weight, UIAA-certified shovel with hoe mode, a big stompable blade, and a beefy shaft built to move serious snow fast.
The BCA Dozer 2H Avalanche Shovel 2026 is the “granddaddy” of BCA’s shovel line, aimed at riders and sledders who want maximum digging power and the efficiency of hoe mode. It uses a larger 6061 T6 aluminium blade and an extendable T‑grip handle that can be run as a traditional shovel or quickly flipped into hoe configuration, which is especially handy for paddling chunks of debris, digging out stuck sleds, or building platforms on the skintrack. BCA’s ovo‑concave shaft shape increases strength without adding weight, resists breakage when prying, and gives your palm better purchase—similar to a high-end lacrosse stick—so you can drive the shovel harder with less slip. With a weight around 1.69 lb (765 g), a 31.5 in (80 cm) extended length, and a low-profile, stompable, neckless blade that packs flat in your bag, it’s a solid choice if you prioritise digging performance over shaving every gram.
Shovel/hoe dual mode:
- Converts from standard shovel setup to hoe mode for faster “paddling” of debris and more efficient snow removal.
UIAA-certified rescue tool:
- Designed and tested to meet UIAA 156 avalanche shovel standards for strength and function.
Larger M-size blade:
- Mid-to-large blade (about 9.75 x 11.5 in / 25 x 29 cm) moves more snow per scoop while staying manageable.
Ovo-concave shaft:
- Oval, concave 6061 T6 aluminium shaft resists bending when prying and gives better grip in the palm, reducing slip.
Extendable T-grip handle:
- Telescoping handle reaches about 31.5 in (80 cm) assembled, then collapses to around 23.5 in (60 cm) for easier packing.
Low-profile stomp edge:
- Flat, stompable blade edge lets you drive the shovel into firm or refrozen snow with your boots for more efficient cutting.
