The BCA Dozer 1T Avalanche Shovel 2026 is a standard-size, extendable shovel designed as a lightweight workhorse for most backcountry skiers and riders. Built from heat-treated 6061 T6 aluminium with BCA’s ovo-concave shaft, it’s engineered to resist bending or breaking when you’re prying in dense debris, while the shape also gives you a more secure grip in the palm when you’re digging hard. The low-profile, flat “stomp edge” blade lets you drive it into hard snow with your boots, and the front third of the blade is smooth for cutting clean snowpit walls when you’re doing stability tests. Auto-engaging spring pins at the blade/shaft connection make assembly quick and hands-free, and the shovel lies flat in your pack without a protruding neck, leaving more room for everything else.
